Freedom is when you are free. When you can say what you want, do what you want and be who you want to be. Freedom is when you don’t have to listen to no one else but yourself. You make your own decisions for how you want to live. No one has to tell you where to go, what to wear, how to look or nothing liked that. Freedom also is when you can work where you want to work, be friends with who you want to be friends with and things like that. Having no freedom at all would be bad. Being an American means you can be free. Having freedom feels really good at times. When I compare myself to other people in other countries I realize how good “us” Americans have it. Living in America means that you have freedom. I can’t imagine living in another place where I have no freedom and I can’t do what I want, wear what I want, and act how I want to. That would be terrible. If I couldn’t live how I live now, I would hate it and hate is a very strong word. I am thankful everyday that I have the freedom I have and that I live in America.

To be a American Citizen is a honor or a blessing in alot of different ways. I would consider this a blessing because looking at all the other countries in the world. Not all of them are a furtunate as we are. To be able to live free and have the right to say what you feel is a blessing. In other countries if someone would say the wrong thing, they could possible be killed. Maybe even sentenced a long amount of time just for going against what the country is suppose to believe. So I think its a honor and people should treat it like one. Look at the other countries and be proud. Freedom to me is having the right to be an individual. Freedom is not to be owned by anyone to live your own life as you feel. Even though living in America Isn't all peaches and cream I still can appreciate the life i live.

Freedom is when there is no one that can tell a whole city or town to go to sleep at 10p.m. Also when there is no one there telling you when to do like eating, cleaning and other things. Freedom is where you have no one you have to call master or someone that took your rights and has complete control over you. Being free is not being beaten with a whip just because you talked back to an owner that you would not have if you were free. The way I feel about being an American is at times proud and at others mad or sad. Being an American is suppose to make me equal to other race but that is not true. If I were equal I would be living in a million dollar house like the rich or on the streets like the poor. Being an American is also good in ways of freedom and lots of opportunities in reference to schooling and the right to choose what you want to do with your life. Also I can say I’m proud to live in America but mad that I am an American. That’s how I feel about it.

Freedom to me means that you have a right and obligated to say what is on your mind and are free to do as you please. I'm not saying that if you want to shoot someone in the head and get away with it you can. I mean you have a freedom of speach. Also you should be able to practice what you preach and live in a life that you believe in. Why go to church and force to clap for a preacher when he says that same sex marriage is a sin and you have a daughter or son that is with the same sex? No one should feel like they have to do something.

For me, being an American has its ups and it has its downs. Some of the laws here I don't think are fair. If i coauld have it my way things would be different. Abortion would be illegal and gay marriage would be legal everywhere but not everyone is as open-minded as I am. But I do enjoy being an American because of the little freedom I do have as a teenager. In America, I have plenty of oppertunites to be somebody and eventually go somewhere that not alot of people my age around the world have. All the college choices, all the money I could have access to, all the different job fields. Not to forget the different levels of society. Not everyone lives in poverty, but not everyone has money to just give away. There are options for people who live in America and I am grateful for that.

I have no idea what it means to be American. That question right there has many answers. There isn’t a right answer, but I think that its not all it’s all cracked up to be. They say the American dream is offered to anyone but that is not true. What they meant to say was that the American dream is offered to anyone with the funds to get it. I am not a terrorist or a anti-American, I’m just saying what I know from experience. I am a immigrant and been around the world, so I have experience a lot. I am just saying that America is over hyped. America cool and all but it is a hypocrite. People here are very rude, and they take everything for granted. they way some people by more food than they know they are not going to eat and eat a little and throw it away. I know people personally who could use that money that they just wasted. I love America, and I like being here, but it is not all it is cracked up to be. So what is it to be an American, I would have to say that it is to be spoiled without knowing it.

I think freedom is the chance to do what you want to do. Every person in the United States has the chance to do what they want to do. I also think freedom is the ability to think for yourself. We don’t live in a country where the government forces us to do what they want us to do. Every American citizen is allowed to have their own opinion. We are allowed to say almost anything.
I feel proud to be an American. In America, you have the freedom to do almost anything. You can follow whatever religion you want to. You can have whatever opinion that you want to form. However, there are times when I don’t like certain things about America. Sometimes, the government treats the citizens unfairly. For example, the US Army is fighting in Iraq for no reason. There are thousands of soldiers dying every day and there families don’t really no why they are fighting. Some will say that they are fighting, because of what happened on September 11, 2001, but these two events are somewhat unrelated. I also don’t like how certain police officers treat African-Americans. On November 26, 2006, Sean Bell and two of his friends were shot at fifty times by the police. Sean Bell was murdered while the other two were severely injured. The officers that murdered Sean Bell were found not guilty. Despite these terrible events, I am still proud to be an American.

I would say that freedom is what every American has and disserves. I would say that freedom is something that Americans have earned and will always fight for. Freedom is the thing slaves fought for. I also think that freedom is to be free from terrene and depression. Also freedom means to be free from dictatorship and free from the wrong doings of the devil. Freedom is being able to make your own choices. Freedom is having the will to do whatever you want and not being told what and what not to do. To me it feels great to be an American. I love having the freedom to do whatever whenever. I love not being told what to do every second of my life and being able to walk freely with no boundaries. I feel great about being an American because that means that I am my own person not being controlled by someone else. I think that being an American is almost every person in the worlds dream because they want to be free. Being an American rocks because there is so much more to do and so much better ways to live. America is the place to be.

To me freedom is the condition of being free, it’s the power to act and speak. Freedom means to be able to do something without anyone questioning or standing in the way of doing something that’s right. It also means that you can express your own opinions regardless of what others think, just like freedom of speech. Freedom is a very broad concept that has been given numerous interpretations by different philosophies and schools of thoughts. Being an American is just being a citizen of the United States. I’m proud to be an American because we have freedom in our country. I’m proud of being an American citizen because this country stands for Liberty, Democracy, and Equality. America has world cultures where one could see great global unity. I feel good about being an American because America is where the mind is without fear and the head is held high; where knowledge is free. Being in America is where words come out the depths of truth. Being an American is the world that hasn’t been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls. No matter what color you are what matters is what is inside and the ways you can feel like a true American.

Freedom in my opinion represents the unalienable rights for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that every person of the world should have. Though that does not mean it should forced on those who do not have it. Thankfully, in the United States, we have what we call rights and they are protected to a degree, where they are not elsewhere.
To be an American, means to be a citizen of America. I am glad that I was born here, as we have freedoms that many others do not elsewhere, but I am not necessarily proud of being one. Our country has done many unforgivable things in the past, including the forceful capture of my ancestors, and still has many ugly traits, such as prejudice and racism. I am not saying I do not love my country, but there are more things to not be proud of than to be proud of. Especially, the events following 9/11, as the War on Terror was executed terribly. Or our former allegiance with Saddam Hussein in supplying him with weapons to try to commit genocide on the Kurds of Iraq. But there is still hope as a new election is around the corner, and the decision of the American people will decide whether we can pick ourselves up from our bootstraps.

Freedom, to me, is the power to do what you want, when you want with no one there to restrict you from doing that. Freedom includes freedom to practice your own religion. Freedom to express your own opinion, no matter how harsh or who it is about, through writing or using your voice. Freedom includes being able to educate yourself no matter how much or how little you would like. Freedom includes being able to do something to make you smile and make you happy and not care what others think.
When I think about being an American, I am happy but I am also angered. I am happy because I know this is the best country to live in; we have more freedoms and liberties than the countries around the world. I know that I could be living a lot worst and I am appreciative for being born an American citizen. However, I am angered because our political leaders are supposed to be leading us to make our country better, but instead they are making it worst by the minute. Improving our country includes assisting us with health care, coming up with better education systems to help our younger generations to change the world like no one else could. It also includes making ALL people equal no matter if they’re black, white, Hispanic, Asian; our color shouldn’t limit the potential that we hold. Instead, our political leaders are racist and sexist; they tear our country down more and more everyday; instead of spending money on making America more of a beautiful place to live in, they spend money on war and make our citizens spend our hard-earned money on affairs that we do not even agree on. Pretty soon, they are going to spend money on mechanical chips to be inserted into our bodies so that the government can track our every move…literally. So when I think about being an
American, this is what I think about.

Suryawan Period 1.
The definition of freedom is the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint, in another word is the power to determine action without restraint. America is the country where freedom was born. It is represented by the statue of Liberty in New York. It is a country where you are free to be yourself, regardless of race, religion, belief and cultures. On September 11, 2001, also known as 9/11. World trade center collapsed. 2,974 people died in this attack. It was when freedom in America is threatened. Freedom is what America is today. People from all over the world came to this country in order gain their freedom.
Well, I am not an American but I felt bad for those innocent people who lost their lives in this attack. Before the attack occurred, America is a peaceful, strong in economy country. Frankly, every single person in this world was shocked about this sudden attack. Nobody has ever imagined that this will ever happened to America. Since then, America has increased their sense of security to prevent anything like this to happen again in the future. The tragedy in September 11 will always be a memory that is unforgettable for America and the world.

Freedom is a right of living. You need freedom to express what you are and who you are. If you don’t have freedom then you have no right to live life your way or make your own decisions. It gives you the right to speak your mind. Freedom allows you to be free. To be an American gives me the right to state who I am and what I believe in. I’m proud to be an American because I have the control of my destiny. Sometimes, I hate living in the United States because I think it is too violent but that does not mean that I hate being an American. I don’t know how I exactly feel to be one because I have been one all my life and use to the fact that I am. I could say that being an American give me the privilege to jobs, school, and to walk the streets of where I live. I can see the difference of being an American and not being one. If you are an American then you have the rights of living and if you’re not one then life for you is going to be difficult in the United States.

Jamila :{ Period 1}

According to the dictionary, freedom means release from captivity or slavery; the ability to act freely without being subject to any restraints. But what is freedom? Who determines if we are truly free? We as Americans may have more opportunities but we all have something that holds us back. We have invisible chains attached to our ankle deterring us from truly being free. We think we are free just because we don’t have to call others master anymore, but having liberty doesn’t mean you aren’t a slave, but is what you do to seize the moment. Freedom is only what we limit ourselves to.
In my opinion, people think being an American is the greatest feeling in the world, because we have more access to opportunities. As Americans, we are able to do things that others in different countries may not have the opportunities to do. Being an American is actually what you think of yourself and what you limit or expand yourself to do.
At times I feel patriotism and feel pride, but most of all I am grateful and blessed to be in a country with so many opportunities and live my life free of worries that infect the every day lives of people in different area of the world.
I am actually proud to say that I’m an American!!

Freedom is being able to think, say, feel, and do whatever you want without fear of retribution. To be free is to live without tyranny or fear. Freedom is nonexistant. As long as people keep racism and fear alive, no on e can be truly free. Even today, you have to be afraid of saying the wrong thing and being hated for it. You can't express your thoughts without being afraid of offending someone. You can't even discuss you rown religion in a school without being called into the office. American's think they have absolute freedom, but we do not. Although, we have much more freedom thant most nations, we still have a long way to go to achieve freedom.

Enya-Period 2

Freedom is something that everyone is born with. Everyone is born with the right of free will and freedom, but some are born in countries where that right is taken away. Freedom is freedom of speech, of religion, and the freedom to do anything you want. Now, while it is true you can do whatever you want, that doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t put up with the consequences.

It feels good to live in America. As a person who was born in another country, and then was brought here, it really puts your life into a perspective that others who where born here don’t have. Of course, at first I didn’t want to come here. I would have rather stayed home with my friends and my country. I refused to learn English and I refused to have an American passport. I didn’t want to be American, I wanted to be Dominican, like I am and always will be. Now, I still hold on to my original roots. I don’t deny myself in what my culture is but I still am proud to say that I live in America, and that I love this country and that I am loyal to it as well. Though I am still loyal to my homeland as well, I’m not afraid to say that I consider myself as an American. Not by birth, but by dwelling place.

What is freedom? Freedom is a right to be who you want to be. It's a right to make your own decisions. There aren't many countries that allow a human being to be a human being. America is the "land of freedom." You are allowed to be the person that you want to be. Allowed the right to live your life, but under the law. Freedom is more than just being free, it means being who you want to be. When you live in America, there are still ups and downs, but amazingly enough, you're allowed to have ups and downs. You're given the right to many things, and freedom is the most important one. In other countries besides America, you can't really do squat. You don't have the same rights as you have in America, and it's not the same. I'm glad that I live in America, and even though I don't necessarily like it here, I love the freedom I get as an adolescent. In other countries, some kids aren't even allowed to go to school, or allowed to associate with certain people. I enjoy having the great rights and freedoms as an American, and I am glad that I live in a country that allows such rights.

FREEDOM such a powerful word. Just to say IM FREE! Is a powerful statement. Being free is when you’re able to do anything, be anybody, and fill free to say what you want to say. In other countries they have no freedom, or some do but with mild expectations. That’s why I love being an American. People come to American all the time because they want there freedom. Being an American gives you the right to be anything you want, like have your own job, be who you really are, LET LOSE! - Even the Constitution gives us the right to have our FREEDOM. I don’t know how I would live without my freedom, I love being an AMERICAN.

Freedom is being who you wish to be, with out judgment. Living where you want to live, sleeping when you wish to sleep, and talking to those of whom you wish to speak. These are examples of freedom, but one aspect that is not part of freedom, is choosing when your time is up. This is especially true for those caught in 9/11. I feel that America is in bad condition, and will not ever get much better, without the right help from all its citizens. Our freedom is our greatest weapon, but also our greatest weakness. I do enjoy the daily luxuries of America, such as women being able to wear clothing that they wish, and not having to cover their faces. I am proud of being able to say what I wish and not be stoned or beaten to death because of it. I am glad that one man in our country cannot obtain enough power to ruin us, but throughout history not only one man has ruined us, America has ruined itself. I do feel pity for those caught in 9/11, and it wasn’t fair that it happened to them, but events like these know not what is fair. Honestly, why would they attack the U.S? They did not do it as a spur of the moment idea; they were provoked in one way. God Bless all those whose family members never returned from the towers on 9/11. We have more freedom than any other country, and most are proud of that. I am proud of America, but afraid that history will one day repeat itself.

Bryce, Period 2

Freedom is doing what you want to do and having the choice to do it. In slave times, slaves were controlled mentally by their masters and sometimes, most of the times; slaves were physically hurt by their masters. In this day and age, there are no more people being puppeteers for other people. You control you, you do what you want to do, and you work where you want to work, instead of working for somebody else on their own land. In America, everyone has freedom to talk, freedom to write, freedom to vote, and freedom under law.

Other countries aren’t as well off as we are. Some countries have nothing better to do than put on a vest with bombs on it and walk into a crowd like nothing is going to happen. Then we in America watch the world news and see the footage of helpless people being blown up by their own. I can say that even though our government can really use a change, I’m satisfied being an American. At least we can get along well enough that we don’t get to the point when we kill each other. As long as it stays this way, and as long as the next president makes the changes that need to be made, I’m glad to be in America.

Freedom is being free. When you have freedom that means you are able to do many things that you want to do without having be told so. You will not have anybody doing telling you to do anything unless it is someone who is older then you ore even takes care of you that can be your parents. When being free you can say what you want, when you want and how you want to say it. There is not any person who is telling you what you can and cannot do. You are able to be who you want to be and not what others may want to be. You are capable of telling yourself what you can and cannot do. Where ever you want to work is your choice not nobody else’s. I feel good to be American because that means I’m free and have a say. I do compare other to us Americans and see if they are able to do what we can do and do they have the rights that we have as free Americans. Being American is good because when looking other countries you will see that we show be so grateful that we are free. There are others around the world that does not get do what we do and have the things that we have as “Free American”.

To me freedom is when u have the right to do whatever you want and when u want. Being your own person. Freedom is when u don't have to listen to any on tell you what to do or what u cant do. I am glad that I live in America. America is a place where you have freedom. The reason why I say this is because we can do what we what and wear what we want, when we want. With no standards. Freedom is really a god thing to have. Well in other countries they have restrictions of what they can do. I could not live in a place other than American where someone control everything that I do or to the point where I can not be my own person. That would make me very upset. I believe that everyone deserves to have freedom no matter what country they live in. I think that this is a right to have. I think that freedom should not have to be earned or given to someone. I don’t kn know how I could live without freedom. I am very glad to be an American. I am glad that I live in America

Freedom is being or feeling free, not only being able to say what you want, but having the right to walk in any place that you want with out someone telling you that you can’t. Freedom is also having the right to dress the way you feel you want to dress or work where ever you please. Freedom is also being able to live where you want and how you want no matter you likes it or dislikes it. Freedom is something that everyone has but takes it for granted. They don’t really pay attention or take the time to notice, especially African- Americans. Being an American gives you lots of freedom no matter if you were born in the states or you are just a citizen. Being in the U.S and having freedom is amazing to think about, because when you look at other countries that don’t give there citizens as much freedom it gives you a better understanding of what you have. If Freedom was ever taken away from me I would probably collapse, mentally and physically. I probably would brake down mentally because I have never been with out freedom I had it my whole life so it being taken away in the blink of an eye would crush my thoughts. I think that everyone at least once a day should thank God for the Freedom that we have.

Kaylah, Period 2

Freedom is being able to be who you are no one can tell you that it’s wrong. Everyone will have their opinion about you but that’s another thing about freedom, you can believe anything you want. I feel like being an American is what allows us to be so free. We all complain about this country but we don’t really think about how we are pretty much limitless as to what we can accomplish being in America. So many other countries are run by dictators, so the people pretty much have to believe whatever their ruler believes. In America you don’t have guidelines on who you should be, here you are who you are and the only person who can change you is you. You can be influenced by others but nobody can say that you are this and that’s what you have to be. Here you have the freedom to choose and that’s what I like about living here. I just think that we don’t always realize how good we have it and we take it for granted very often and if you were to take America and put us in a completely different setting where you had to be a certain religion and live everyday of our lives by the way somebody else lived theirs, it would be no easy task.

Freedom is being able to do anything that you want. Without anyone saying anything to you and saying anything you want. Freedom is what makes America and keeps it running. Without it, the U.S. would be just like some other country. The feeling to live in America is great. Knowing that you can become anything you want, it just makes you happy. In any other country, they don’t have to opportunity to do what ever they want. Or the chance to become anybody or anything you want. Not all countries have the choice of working in different places. Some places make you work in certain places. Also some places have to follow their families. Not here, you can do what you really like.
My feeling from living in the U.S. and being born in the U.S. is great too. I really wouldn’t want to be born in any other place. Because I know that I have my freedom to do anything. And the fact that I can become anything I want. I really am jus happy to be here and not anywhere else. I have everything that I could want. That can be my feeling or how it can be described.

I think freedom is the right to do anything you feel is right in your mind. Freedom is when you’re tied down by on or anything. Freedom is when you can do what you please. You don't have to listen to anyone but yourself. It's no restrictions when you have freedom. Freedom is when you make decisions for yourself. Nobody can tell you what to do. This is my idea of total freedom. To live in America is really great. We have freedom of speech, freedom rights, we have a lot of freedom. I'm happy we have freedom to feel however we want to feel about something. I can express my feelings however and when I please. I'm also glad we don't have a dictatorship country. If we did we couldn't do what we please. We would have to listen to everything to government wanted us to do. I couldn’t do half the things I do as a American. We couldn't the freedom we have now. Having freedom is one of the best feelings you could ever feel. Other countries don't even compare to how good America has it. I don't want my freedom ever took from me. I couldn't be happier than being an American.

Freedom is good to have. It is very good to be an American. When I wake up every morning it fells right to be in American and have my freedom. Freedom is a great thing to have that is all people want. It feels good to live in America because you have freedom. Even know American has its ups and it has it downs on days. But America always tries to come back up when we fall down. There is a guote that is always here in America, “once you fall always get back up”. My mother tells me that all the time, and that is what America does. America may be in war now and that is a bad thing going on but there is so many good things going on. Some of the good things are the presidential votes are coming up soon, there is always someone trying to invent something everyday in America, and people are always making new friends. So all I have to say about being free and living in America, is don’t leave your freedom or go to another country. In a lot of country there is all kind of crazy things even know there is here in America as well. But your freedom never goes no where here in America.

Freedom is the right to do what ever you want, as long as it is not against the law. Freedom is being able to serve any religion you want with out any consequences. Without any one killing you because you don’t believe in the same thing they believe in, being able to disagree with the government, being able to speak your mind without having someone come kidnap you in the middle of the night, and torturing you until you die. Freedom is not having to serve a king or queen and living the way they want you to live, or the way they say you should to live. Freedom is being able to be apart of making some important decisions involving your government and having the power to pick your next leader, without being told which person to vote for. That is what freedom is to me. As an American, I and all Americans sometimes forget and take freedom for granted. We complain about the little things and make big deals out of them. We never think about other countries or ho their government and how things are ran over their, and how they have no freedom what so ever.

To be honest I can’t always say I am happy to be living in America. It seems that in places like America money and greed take over and change so much like an illness. I am however glad to be in a nation where my voice can and will be heard there is not a lot of places like that at all. Freedom is all about being able to live your life the way you want it to live in peace and never worry about other people. Other people cant rule you because you have the freedom to walk away from those people to say no to those people. Freedom is all about having choices and knowing what power that really is. Many nations give their people little if any power. America lets people speak out for the causes they believe in and the struggles they face. Change is possible with freedom and that’s all that matters. There is evil and greed everywhere, but there is not freedom everywhere. The problem I really truly despise of America is that people cannot see the power freedom has they act as it has no value. People who don’t have it appreciate much more than those whom do. It is sad but true. America has it faults but in general by giving its people freedom it allows people to make up and fix those faults. To be able to fix the bad is just as good as giving me the good. I will have to work hard either way. Anywhere else id work for freedom here I work to protect and use my freedom. Freedom should never be token lightly when so many people starve, die for it. Freedom is all anyone can hope have. My only question is once you have and know you having it what will YOU do with it? That’s the beauty of it huh? You don’t have to do anything because that is the beauty of choice. But if you could? If you had the courage to? To not just settle for what you have but to build for what you someday could have? Would you take it? Or fall behind and not see the true beauty freedom could bring the power it could do? It’s all choice. Even these very words I type could only be because I have freedom, I have the power to say what I want to be as bold as to question.

Freedom is when you are free to do anything you want. For certain people, freedom is not free. You do want you want to do without anybody say on it. You don't have to follow any rules. I love America, It has so many opportunity that other countries cannot offer. America gives lots of freedom to everyone. Equal rights are also given to everyone who lives in America. In America, you an individual has the freedom to do anything they pleases them. They can be anyone they want to be. As for me, I came in America in 2004. I’ve love America since my first view at the roads; the beautiful buildings and all America have as nature. America gave me a chance to be somebody great. It gives me opportunities such as going to school for free. A chance I did not have in my country. When I’m living in America, I know that I can call for help and the help will be given to me. As to 9-11, I just watch the whole thing on TV. It opened my eyes on the danger out there. I felt sad for the victims caught in the violence of nine eleven. I pray for those victims.

I think that Freedom is when you can do or stop doing what you want to, the reason why is because no one will tell you what to say or do. I think that in the United States people have a little too much freedom and that’s why people do pretty much whatever they want to and they don’t value everything they have. To be free also means that you need to take control of your acts and if you screw up theres no turn back you made your choices and what you get are what you keep. I understand that maybe many people won’t agree with my opinion but everyone wants to change the situation and to make things better, but they don’t start by doing it themselves. I BELIEVE that if we have freedom why not use it to make injustices not happen anymore. I think that to me to be an American even though I’m not one is to have every right to do whatever you want to do, at times you can expect many feelings encountering each other because we all have different perspectives of FREEDOM and The AMERICAN DREAM and I think that what they mean by that is the opportunities that you have in this country and some people just don’t care so they waste them.

[Free]dom. What does it mean to me? Freedom to me means to be free; to be able to walk outside and be able to feel safe. Not saying that there isn’t danger under the soles of my shoes as I walk, but the feel of being free is enough for me. I’m proud to be an American. I believe that in America I am safe, protected, and secure at all times. I enjoy the freedom that is granted to us as Americans, and that I live the life that others will die for. Again, this makes me appreciate my life; and don’t take any of it for granted. With the dial of a three-digit number, help is one the way to protect me. To be an American, I am truly blessed by the hand of God. I believe that I am one of the many selected to be blessed to be an American. I live up to the standards of an American, and I exercise my given rights to live freely. Freedom is a precious thing and shouldn’t be wasted, because there are others who would put everything on the line for just a taste of what I experience everyday. I love my freedom, the feeling of security, and I love being an American.

Freedom is how most of us live who are not incarcerated. Most of uses have a long struggle to get here. To live in America is a great way to be free. In other countries they don’t have the choices and decision we have. Many of us take for granted what we have. We have civil rights so we do get the freedom we deserve. To live here in America is a great pleasure and I wouldn’t want to live any where else. Freedom is something that we all deserve and we should get a birth no matter what. The people who don’t have freedom I feel bad for people who don’t have freedom of speech. I feel proud to be an American everyday. I think it is a great thing to be blessed to live in a country where you can be yourself. I think that the way Americans live to day they are so use to being put on a pedestal. Being and American add great hope and achievement to my life. I wouldn’t want to live somewhere where they tell what to do, when to do it, and how much I need. I would like to thank everyone who helped make America the way it is.

In my opinion freedom is to make your own choose. And to chose your own future. Freedom is to be free and no one telling you that you can’t do what you want to do. If freedom is describe as free to do anything. Then free is to be able to do what you want without being judge. Freedom is where you can do what you what. Also, freedom in my opinion can be the freedom to speech your mind. And the freedom to do what anyone else could do. For example sports and go to places without being told that you can’t. Freedom is basically when no one tells you what to do. When your not rule by a person who wants what is best for them. I feel like living in America is being free. Also, living in America is freedom because you can do what you want without people telling you what you should. Or what you need to do. Also, living in America without anyone telling you that you can’t have a home. In America is different you can have a home and be able to do what other people can do around you. Basically you are just free to do what you what to do. Also, living in America you are equal and not decimated.

Freedom is living free. It’s the choice to make your own decisions in life. It’s the way some of us live everyday. Freedom is a choice that you alone have to make. It’s when you have the right to be heard and make a sound. You have the right to be you and be free. It’s your choice to be free. If it was me I would choice freedom over anything. If I had to choice between freedom and the right to vote, I would choose freedom. Freedom is so important in the world today. It’s what makes us want to live each day through and through. Just knowing that you are free would want to make you stand to your feet and shout yeah I’m free! It feels so great to be an American and knowing that we can live in the best place, where we can get great jobs and great school. Being an American has great opportunists for us all. We can get the highest education then other people. We live in the United States, also known as the Freedom land. It is know as the freedom land because here we live free. We are free! Freedom is the greatest thing that you could receive out of life. It’s the one thing you should really every want out of life. Just to be free it’s-self is amazing!

TO ME, FREEDOM IS NOT A MEANING BUT A BEING. THE DEFINITION OF FREEDOM IS: TO BE FREE IS TO HAVE PERSONAL LIBERTY, OR HAVING PERSONAL SERVITUDE. WHEN YOU ARE FREE, NO ONE SETS THE BOUNDARIES FOR YOU. YOU MAKE THE RULES AND IT'S YOUR CHOICE IF YOU CHOSE TO BREAK THEM TO FOLLOW THEM.
TO BE AN AMERICAN IS NOT ANYTHING SPECIAL. AN AMERICAN IS JUST THE GENERAL CATERGORY FOR SOMEONE WHO LIVES IN AMERICA, JUST LIKE CHINESE OR KOREAN. BUT TO ME TO BE AN AMERICAN IS TO BE FREE, WITH LIMITED BOUNDARIES. KNOWING HOW OTHER COUNTRIES LIVE, IT FEELS GOOD KNOWING THAT I CAN DO SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE ELSE CAN'T DO SOMEWHERE ELSE CAN'T DO. BUT BEING IN AMERICA AND AMERICA BEING THE STRONGEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD MAKES US THE TARGET FOR SMALLER COUNTRIES, MAKING IT SOMETIMES HARD TO BEAR LIVING HERE. BUT THAT’S WHAT MAKES IT GREAT, BECAUSE IT GETS ATTACKED AND IT CONTINUES TO BOUNCE BACK TIME AFTER TIME. TO BE AN AMERICAN, TAKES A LOT OF REPUTATION UPHOLDING BECAUSE AMERICAN’S ARE TREATED AS UNEQUAL OTHER PLACES BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE GOVERNMENT TREATS OTHER COUNTRIES. THE BEST FEELING IN AMERICA, IS BEING LIBERATED.

In my opinion freedom is the most important thing to Americans. We have the rights and freedom to do what we what and to do. 911 was very important to us and when I watch it all I can feel is anger agents the people that caused such pain to all of this country and effected the entire world but for a moment in time there was no race. America was united and came together as a whole. So when 9/11 occurred it to be an American felt like being a part of a whole because we all watched as those towers fell and all felt the pain. To be an American is to be united with freedom. Freedom gives you the right to say something and even if someone disagrees with what you say they will fight to the death for your right to say it. Our ancestors fought to give us those rights and I will exercise them because that is what freedom is, having the right to live the way you want. That’s what it feels like to be an American to me.

Freedom to be to able to do as you please is freedom to me. I feel as thou if you are not breaking the law then you should be able to do as you want. They say it’s a free country but really is this free country. To be free you should be able to tell people how you feel and you should be able to speak freely. You should be able to like who like with out being judge, or at least be able to look as you want. If this were a free country then you should be able to ware what you want to wear, they say you are but in reality your not. For instants in work you have to wear a uniform just like you were in high school or element try again. If you’re an adult then it should not matter what you wear. I honestly like the country but wish to not live here because everyone here is too judgmental. Everything you do that’s not the same as them then you’re wrong. I rather live in another country then live here. You did get a lot of benefits of being an American its just not enough for me to want to stay here. There are to many sad events that happen in American to we have so many wars and such I just tired of it I really am.

Freedom is when you are not in slavery or being controlled by anyone or thing. Freedom is one of the keys in life that you need everyday. Having freedom means you can do what you would like, say what you like and be WHO YOUR ARE. With freedom you have your freedom of speech and much more. With freedom you make your own choices and decisions without someone telling you that you can or can not. Being an American is on of the best things in the world rather than being a child of god, to live in America is even a privilege that many people in other countries wish that they could have. In other countries many people are killed because they are trying to take there freedom. For example, Saddam Hussein killed many people and had no remorse for doing so. Saddam killed people that fought for there rights. Many people do not have any courage to do that. People wish everyday that they could live in this country and we continue to take advantage of this. Remembering September 11, 2001 is very hard. I remember where I was and how everyone reacted. I think of how a plane crashed into the pentagon. But now since I have family there I think even more of what I would do or how I would be if my cousin was killed while serving for his country.

I think that freedom is being able to express yourself and how you feel about the world on a day to day basis. Freedom is also being able to say what you want in a reasonable way. I think that freedom is a good thing to have, because if we did not have it people would have to listen to other people and we all know how people are today when someone tells them what to do. Freedom is being able to make your own decisions when you want and how you want. Freedom is being able to live your life the way you want without the influences of other people. Freedom is having a way of life that suits you and fits your needs. Freedom is being able to do you.
To me, being an American means being able to have the things of the world free. Being able to walk out my front door and not be shot or killed. I think that be an American means that you should be thankful that someone is not dictating your every move. I am glad that i am an African-American person that lives in America. Freedom to me is when you get to do what ever you want, but freedom can mean a lot of things. For some freedom can mean to not work as a slave and have the rights as everybody else, which that is apart of freedom. Freedom means to be able to have your own voice in your own country and the right to vote and so forth. In America that is basically what we are based off of. I think that America is a great country it just has its problems. We believe in freedom of speech but we don’t believe in hearing what people have to say if they aren’t somebody. Some times I get frustrated with our government because it contradicts itself. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that I would want to live in any other country it’s just that sometimes I think we need to listen to ourselves. Other than that I think we are the country with the most freedom. In some other countries they still have slaves and women cant even vote. May be we are so far ahead with our judicial system because we have so many different points of views for different cultures to fall back and listen to. We try to make it right for everybody sometimes.

Freedom is something every wants and what everyone fights for. Freedom is very important to have, and makes you feel real good about yourself when you have it. Freedom gives you the right to do what you want, say what you want, and go where you want. Having Freedom gives you something to wake up and look forward to. Freedom is what started many wars and many issues but it usually works out for the best. A lot of counties don’t have freedom and wished they do. America has freedom which makes me feel blessed and very grateful. I love to be American and to live here because not many other places have freedom. I couldn’t imagine living without freedom. Freedom gives you the right to be you and not what other makes you. If I had no freedom I would dread everyday, because you wouldn’t be able to be yourself without people saying you don’t have the right to do, to say, or to go somewhere. I would rather live in a place where I can make my own decisions rather than someone making decisions for me. Also I always want my voice to be heard and for everyone to hear my opinion rather than not to be heard. This is the reason I am glad to be American and to live in American.

The freedom is when you can do whatever you want. That means you can do things without people coming up to you and saying that you can’t do that. It means that you can do anything that is not illegal. I am glad to be living America. I say that because we are one of the richest countries in the world. All the other have nothing in their country, no food, no clothing, and no education. The Americans get that easy and they don’t have to do nothing to work for it. Kids in other countries get aids at a young age because they don’t know the information about how you get it. They also have nothing to cure it and they just die. People in America cure their aids and some don’t, but what I am saying is that we have a better chance of living and I am very appreciative of that. I feel good to be an American. I say that because immigrants have to go through lots when they come to America. People pick on them because they are not from America. The kids Afghanistan and Iraq get treated badly because of the September 11, 2001 attack. They look at them and think bad of them because those people who did the attack looks like it could be their family. Some of people I know mess with those people and one day somebody told the person to not do that because they might blow their house up. The kid went crying and thinks that is not right. We are very valuable and I am grateful.

I think freedom is when you can do just about anything you want to do, say anything, be anything you want to be. It is a very important thing during our time period. Without it we wouldn’t be ourselves. If it was taken away from us, I think we would all go crazy and of course it wouldn’t be the same. I would absolutely hate it. I normally don’t hate things, but I know I couldn’t live without it. Freedom means a lot to me, and a lot to everyone here living in America. Freedom is something that everyone loves and what they need. Without our freedom we would have to listen to a certain person and do everything they say. I would hate that, I don’t even listen to my parents half of the time. I don’t think anybody would want that, matter fact, I know they wouldn’t. Being an American is something that is very important to me. I am thankful of my freedom and being American. As an American I think we have it way better than some over the other places in the country. So that’s why I appreciate where I live and how much freedom we have.

The true definition of freedom is the quality of being free or the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action. Freedom means a lot of things to me. I think many Americans take freedom for granted. Things like wearing what we want to wear, listening to what we want to listen to, and believing in what we want to believe in are various things that we don’t even think about. Many women around the world have to be sure that there body parts such as parts of their face are covered, where in America, a girl can go out the house with her butt hanging out and cleavage and nothing be wrong with it. I think that freedom is a big deal, it not only affects your life, but it affects your personality. I am very grateful and blessed to be an American because I am able to do many things that make me, me. I think that everyone should be American because despite our flaws we defiantly are living well compared to other countries. I think that we are also blessed to be able to be what we want to when we grow up. Unlike other countries, we are able to be asked when we are younger “what do you want to be when you grow up?” In many other countries childrens future is already determined by their social status. We are able to be what ever we want, the world is ours. I am very happy to be American

Freedom is when you are free. When you can do what ever you want you can walk down the street when ever you want to. Freedom is a good thing you don’t have to worry about someone saying something to you about what you are doing. You can live your life to the fullest the only thing you would have to worry is the law because you can go around and doing whatever you want because there are something’s you can not do. Freedom is also when you can go anywhere without someone saying you can not. You don’t have to listen to what others say. Freedom is all our troops being back here relaxed with their family being treated right after their hard work. Freedom is something that everyone wants but never gets. When you graduate and move from your house you are free from that but you move into new restrictions. You move into the real world with work bills and more responsibility. Freedom is something that we all want. When you retire you’re free from work the workworld and you have an income coming to you without effort. When you hit that stage you now have restrictions to your age and what your body can’t take. We are all on pursuit of freedom just like happiness. Freedom we work for but never reach. Basically it is just like a carrot in front of a rabbit that never reaches its dreams. We work for it, we dream about it, and we never this freedom we all talk about. The world made for us to work and die. If want freedom and you know how to get tell me. When sometimes think that we are free, I say that is not freedom but just satisfaction. That is want I have to say about freedom.

Freedom is the fact that using the constitution and the law you can do what you want to do when you want to do it. I think America is the best country that was ever made. Besides the fact that are government is a little over the edge we are still a good country. I feel good about being an American. We have a lot of opportunities here and everything is so easy to do. We have great education and lots of money. Freedom is what everyone fights for 24/7. September 11,2001 was I think the worst tragedy that ever happened. Thousands of people died in that tragic event. Fathers mothers aunts ,and uncle’s died. Just imagine if your mother of father died how bad would you feel. I really think there is something that the government is not telling us. We have been in war for I think 5 or 6 years really because of it. We have prosecuted and took the life of the person behind the attack. To Americans I think are country is very important to them. That’s why this election between Barack Obama and George Bush is very important. If we elect a black president just think how doors its going to for the African American civilization. I love my country and my country loves me.

I feel good to be an American because if your not an American you get viewed diffrenet. I also like to be in an American because we have rights and freedom we can do what ever we choose but we have limits such as rules, regulations, and laws. Equality to me means that, we should all get treated the same way no matter if your fat, skinny, black, white, or even Asian were just all the same. I think that we are all equal. No one is better than anyone else. I mean there are a good amount of people who just think that they’re the bomb diggity. But they really aren’t, see me I don’t think that I’m better than anyone and I don’t judge anyone neither. Because I wouldn’t want people to judge me. Yea, there are some people who say that I think that I’m better than everyone else, but that isn’t the least bit true. I think that no one should have their rights token away no matter what they did because whether people think that they did something an American citizen wouldn’t do the truth of the matter is their still an American so they shouldn’t have someone telling them if they are or aren’t. And no one at least I think has the right to take someone’s else’s rights’ away. Because that person taking those away are just like you! So yes no one is better than anyone and no one has the right to tell you if you have rights’ anymore.

I think equality is when you treat someone the same and they are no different from someone else. I think that everyone is equal, but in different ways. Yes, I do think some people are better than others. Well it all determines how they are and what they do as a person or what they have done in life. It could be good or bad, so that can determine if you are better than someone else. Just because you might have more than someone doesn’t necessarily mean you are better than them. You have to do something in your life to prove that. Like I think that a doctor is a better person than a convict in jail. A doctor saves lives, and then the jail person committed something that they should have. I think nobody has the right to take anything from anybody. Only the people who are doing wrong, tried to hurt someone, or themselves should have some of their rights taken away, but not all of them. But I think equality was a big issue back in the day, but now it is not as of an issue to this day. The world and the laws have changed so much from back in 1930’s.

I think equally is when you treat someone fair and kind. Equality is when everyone has the same rights. Equally is very important to me and I am glad that everyone here are equal. When people are equal is when everyone is treated the same and looked at the same. People here in the untied states are equal and it is a law that everyone remains equal. A lot of other places do not have equality, which in my opinion isn’t right. I don’t believe other people are better than others I believe that everyone is equal. I do believe that others make better choices than others but I still don’t believe no one is better than another. I don’t believe no one has the right to take away anyone ones rights. I don’t believe that no one should have that power no matter how important you are. I believe that everyone should have the same amount of rights because everyone is equal, and if everyone is equal everyone deserves an equal amount of rights. I believe things have strongly changes form back then because a long time ago everyone was not considered equal and did not have an equal amount of rights. Whites and blacks, German and Jews, and many others have suffered from not having equality. Equality have grown over the years and thank god.

Freedom is when you have the right to do anything you want. You can do whatever, wherever, with the exceptions of the laws. You can say what you want and write what you want. For example, in some countries, if you poorly write or say something about the ruler of their country, you could be sent to prison, or killed. In America, the laws are not like that. We can talk about our government without risking going to jail. We have the power to change our government. I don’t necessarily think you can “feel” being American. However, you can experience the feel of freedom. You feel relieved to know that you can do whatever. You are not pressured to think one certain type of way. You can have your own style, your own religion, and your own thoughts. That is what I think it feels to be American. I love it here, but I would also love it in any other country that was free. America isn’t anything special. We broke so I would like to live in a country that was rich, free and had a good government. The thing I like most about this country, other than the freedom, is how many different races and religions are accepted.

Freedom is the state of being free, political or national independence. With freedom you have the power to determine action without restraint. In America we have the freedom to work where we want, go were we want, and be with who we want. In some other countries they do not have as much freedom as we do. That’s why I couldn’t imagine not living in America. I see it as a blessing to live here. Living in America means that you have freedom. Having no freedom at all would be unbearable. I wouldn’t know what to do without freedom. Life just wouldn’t be the same. To imagine life without freedom is terrible. Some people take things for granted, If we weren’t free are whole way of living would change. Everything we were so used to doing would be no more. I would hate life, not being able to make my own choices but have them made for me. Life wouldn’t be fair without freedom. I believe that is why when slavery was about slaves went through so much trouble to gain freedom. Freedom is very valuable and you should never take it for granted, and I am proud to say that I am free.

My definition of Freedom is the condition of being free; the power to act or speak or think without externally imposed restraints. Freedom is to be able to do anything that is possible if you put your mind in it. Having the right to have freedom is the privilege to have it. In my state of mind freedom having to do whatever you want and nobody tell you what to do and what not to do. My example of freedom is, In fact, the "only" freedom that a democracy bestows practically on its members is that they have the right, every few years or so, to vote for one of a set group of representatives (government) who will run the country on their behalf. As an American I am proud to have that freedom. But in some state you have to earn to get your freedom. It a struggles not to have freedom in America. For example, the freedom for us to breathe clean air is dependent upon the restriction of the freedom for factories to produce as much pollution as they like. So the support for freedom is always a balancing act between the collective long-term interests and the interests of the short-term interests of the individual or corporation (under law, corporations are regarded as individual people and so are afforded many of the same rights).

Freedom is when everyone is considered equal. Where no one is judged because of their flaws. Freedom is not being controlled or held against your will. I don’t really think that it is really a special privilege to leave in America. I don’t think it is that special because its own way it doesn’t seem that everyone is treated equal as it is claimed that we are. America is known to other countries as the land of the free but to most people who are actual citizens it isn’t what people on the outside think it truly is. Many of the people effected by the freedom or equality in America would have to be the people of color. Not just African American but also the Hispanics of America. I would say that we are effect the most because we are still discriminated against for things that we can’t change.

How It Feels to Be an American/ live in America

To be an American is a great thing, because you have freedom and the right to speak your mind. But certain things you can not do, in America. Since, we had our independence on July 4, 1776. Most importantly, we have out freedom, since in some countries. You have dictators that can take your freedom away from you. But in America if you did something that was against the law, they can take your freedom. To be an American is a hassle, because to live in America you have to do certain things to have a successful life, going to school, getting an education, getting a job, etc.

To live America is a great experience, if you’re middle class or higher. But depending on your situation (good or bad), your life can be the same way. But some people have it good, some bad. Like some of our parents said, “We take things for advantage”, or back in my day “we didn’t have it like this”, or “yall are real lucky”. But their right, we do take things for advantage, because some people want more than they can bargain for. Just like us kids. But honestly living in American can be make you or break you, just like the music business.
