November 14th, 1851

On this date in 1851 Herman Melville published his novel Moby Dick. Despite initial mixed reviews this novel has now been considered to be one of the greatest writings in the American language.

Moby-Dick is an 1851 novel by Herman Melville. The story tells the adventures of the wandering sailor Ishmael and his voyage on the whaleship Pequod, commanded by Captain Ahab. Ishmael soon learns that Ahab seeks one specific whale, Moby-Dick, a white whale of tremendous size and ferocity. Comparatively few whaleships know of Moby-Dick, and fewer yet have encountered him. In a previous encounter, the whale destroyed Ahab's boat and bit off his leg. Ahab intends to take revenge. ~Wikipedia~

One of my favorite books is Series of Unfortunate Events and it’s about three orphans who are being followed by a man who wants to take their fortune after their mansion and parents disappeared. Another of my favorite books is title November Blues…it’s written by a very good writer and it’s about a young teen who is pregnant and her boyfriend has died so he is not there to take care. The third book that I like is called The Queen of Babble. It’s a romance/ comedy novel and it’s my number one favorite right now. This chick falls in love with a British man and she decides to go visit his in England. When she really finds out what kind of man he is and a liar she gets on a train to meet up her friend in France. She meets a guy in the train and tells him everything not knowing that the guy was going to the same place as she was. When she found out she was really embarrassed, but at the end of the book they end up falling in love and stay together. It’s really interesting and it’s something to keep you occupied. It’s very important to read because it develops more learning abilities and it builds stronger vocabulary.

My favorite books are: 1) Larceny by Jason Poole, 2) Harlem Girl Lost by Treasure E. Blue, and 3) Life by Leo Sullivan. Larceny was about two guys, Jevon and Bilal, who have been best friends ever since they were little kids. While defending himself, Jevon shot a man, but Bilal pinned the murder all on himself and was sentenced to years in jail for manslaughter. When he gets out, he stabs his good friend, Jevon, in the back and karma punishes him. This was my favorite book because it had a lot of suspense, it is a story of success, and it has many unexpected twists and turns throughout the book. I think it is important to read because reading not only helps you with your writing, but it helps you with your everyday vocabulary. Reading is also important because it is one of the best sources of entertainment in times of boredom. Reading has changed by life because I have always loved to read. When I would read, it would take me to a whole different world, one that I have never been in before. Reading has also taught me lessons about life and the different kinds of consequences that you have to answer to for making certain decisions; in some cases, it made me fear those consequences so I knew that I would not make the same mistake that the character in the book had made. Overall, reading is a peaceful escape from the, sometimes stressful, world that I am used to living in.

My favorite books are The Notebook, Pretties, and a child called “IT”. A child called “IT” is about a little boy name David. David was loved by his parents dearly but when he turned 7 things became different. His mother stopped caring for him and neglected him. His father was a drunk who fail to protect his own son from his wife. David was abused in so many ways; he was abuse physically and mentally. His mother was a manic, she treat him like an animal. She would let him eat the leftovers of his brothers and hit him when he does not listen to her. David knows that it was wrong for his mother to treat him like that but he refused to tell anyone because he believed that she does all those things only because she loves him. I would recommend this book to someone my age because I know they could relate to it and that they would be drawn to it like me. Reading is very important to me because it improve my vocabulary. It also helps me look at other people perspective by reading their novel. Reading can change your life because it can change the way you think and believe in things. It has change my life by helping me open my eyes to new information and details.

Some of my favorite books are Never Die Alone by Donald Goines. I like that book because it’s full of action and tell fake stories about real things. Another book I like is Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. I like this book it teaches me different ways to make money. Also because I want to one day own my own business this is a great book to read. The last book I like is The Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Hurston. This is a good book because it teaches about a woman and how she had to find herself. It was an excellent novel. The book that has taught me the most was Rich Dad Poor Dad. That has changed my life a lot because I can now take the tips it gave and apply them after I finish college. It has helped me get a better business mind and could possibly help me build a good business. I know now that I have read this book that I will always keep it around. It is important to read because it helps build lots of things. One that it has helped me with and this has changed my life is vocabulary.

My three favorite books are I Miss You My Stinky Face, Titus Andronicus, and Copper Sun. The book I like the most is Titus Andronicus. That book was all about revenge. It was brutal but at the same time it was funny, at least to me. It starts out with Titus coming back from a war the kill 20+ of his sons. He then takes the son of the captured Queen of the country he was fighting and sacrificed him so that his sons can move on. What an opening scene. It is kind of hard to follow at first because it is in a dialect, but you will get the hang of it. Of course anyone in my ninth grade class would agree that it was a really good book. Also someone made it a movie and that is something to watch. Reading in general has changed my life. I don’t get lost in and unknown part of town. I can read signs. I can read a bus schedule. I need to know to read to survive in this world. Everything has a sign that you read to tell you what to do or what not to do. That’s just the way it is.

3 of my favorite books are SPEAK, GOOSBUMPS, and TITUS ANDRONICUS. I choose to explain the book TITUS ANDRONICUS. This book was about a war general who has gone to battle for his city and also against people in his city. Throughout the book there are many people particularly one who is trying to have Titus killed. That one person was Aaron the moor. This book was about Titus getting revenge on all the people who killed his family and all the people who were involved with the death of his family. I loved this book because it was so awesome and so dang violent. This book was so funny and it was so interesting that I could read this book 8 million times and still love it. It is so important to read for many reasons. It is important because with out reading we would not have anything to do or anything to talk about I certain classes in school or on the streets with some friends. Reading is important because it teaches us just as much as teachers do in school. Reading has changed many lives including mine. It has because reading has given me knowledge that is not taught in school.

In the novels I have read throughout my lifetime, I suppose my favorite three books are, The Inferno, The Subtle Knife and The Time Machine. The Inferno is an epic written about a man’s journey to find redemption after he strayed away from good nature. The author who is also the main character, Dante, goes through Hell with his favorite poet Virgil. Dante’s deceased love calls for Virgil to send him on this journey, as she has seen from Heaven Dante’s error. With Virgil he descends through all the levels of Hell, speaking to the inhabitants and noting the gruesome punishments endured. For example, as he continues through the lowest levels he sees Muhammad who must walk around a circle for eternity. As he walks around the circle a demon with a large sword splits his upper and lower body, his dismembered body slowly rejoins itself and he continues around the circle. The Inferno is the first of a trilogy, in which Dante goes through Hell, Purgatory and Heaven to eventually meet with God. Reading is an important activity because it engages your mind outside of school, providing you with a mind stimulating activity that increases your reading ability and vocabulary.

My first book would be the Copper Sun by Sharon Draper. This book had done a very good job about telling you about the time during the slavery. It really puts you into the character’s shoes. It is also historically accurate. I actually gain a lot of knowledge from reading this source of useful information. My second book would be the “Forgotten Door” by Alexander Key. It tells a story about a boy from somewhere else in the universe falls through a door and ended up in planet Earth. He lost his memory but he still have his super power that common human doesn’t have. This book really made your imagination gone wild and crazy. It has a very good story line that made you want to know what is going to happen next in the book. It also a very good way to improve your vocabulary due to the “big” words it used. The third book would be the Maus. It is about the holocaust but drawn by Art Spielgman, basically it is like comic books. This is another good and adventurous book about the daily life of Jews before, during and after the war world II. Reading books made you to gain your words or vocabularies. It also adds more imagination to your mind. Reading for pleasure also helps you to relax at the same time too.

Three of my favorite books are Codename Cassandra, Twilight, and Nineteen Minutes. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer is a book I would definitely recommend to my peers. I always told my self that I would never get into vampire stories, but I changed my mind when I read Twilight. Summary: Isabella Swan moves to Forks to be with her dad, Charlie. Her new life was boring until she finds herself in a thrilling and terrifying circumstance. She soon becomes involved with an alluring vampire, who struggles to keep his identity a secret. Twilight is a page turner. Every time I want to put the book down, I always ended up more than I intend to. I’ve always LoVeD reading! Before I even went to Kindergarten, I would always read Dr. Seuss books. That’s why I love reading poems. But anyways, because I’ve always loved reading as little kid, reading is my favorite pastime. Reading is important to me, because it exposes me to new vocabulary. Reading has changed my life greatly. I can actually say that reading has gotten me out of trouble. Instead of being idle or messing with my siblings I would just read and stay to myself and avoid trouble. Whenever I read it’s like I transfer into a more tranquil world!

One of my hobbies is reading. I love to read. Three of my favorite books are Black, Keisha and Shame On It All. I have read all of these books in the past year or so. The one out of the few that I liked the most is the book Keisha. In the book the main character Keisha was very well known. Her mother and father were killed by her boyfriend since high school and his best friend. Clearance (her boyfriend) thought Keisha never would have found out but what he didn’t know was that before her mother died she told him it was him. Throughout the whole book Keisha was plotting revenge on him and his friend. Clearance was feeling guilty and was going crazy because a detective was on his case. By the end of the book Clearance got locked up for something he didn’t do and they were going to let him go but what he didn’t know was that Keisha sold his house, car, clothes and stole all of his money. He was also dying so he had nothing left. Keisha believed that what she did was the best revenge she could have got against him. Many people my age would like this book because there is always something exciting happening and it will always leaving you thinking what will happen next. This reading really hasn’t changed my life but it did let in on how the nasty the real world can be. It made me realize that sometimes the one you love the most will be the one you cannot trust and will hurt you the most.

• A Matter of Trust
• Someone to Love Me
• November Blues

November Blues is about a 16 year old girl named November Nelson who is pregnant by her dead boyfriend. Joshua Prescott is her dead boyfriend. He died by doing a dare that was suppose to be fun. She did not find out she was pregnant until after his death. Now she is afraid of what mite happen along her journey with this baby. She doesn’t know whether to keep it or to take he deal Joshua’s parents have given her. They want to adopted/buy the baby after it’s born for $100, 000. November thinks that it might be a good idea since she still wants to finish school and got to college. However, she also thinks that it is wrong for selling her baby instead if keeping the child. November is extremely confused. Along November’s true friends Dana, Olivia, and Jericho help her. Jericho is Joshua’s cousin and he is doing whatever he can to help November. Rather than helping her he needs to help himself. I feel that this is a good book to read considering all the struggles and other things that teens go through. Teen pregnancy is defiantly one of those things. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels or who is going through a ruff time in their life. It is important to read to gain more knowledge about different things and topics. To see other point of views from different genres. Reading has changed my life by giving me information about the world and how it works. Even fable stories have a meaning to it. I like reading and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

My three favorite books would have to be:

Inventing Elliot

Shoe Addicts Anonymous

The Coldest Winter Ever

There all good books I would recommend them for anyone my age or someone mature. My favorite out of the three would be Inventing Elliot. Inventing Elliot is a boy who has a problem being accepted by his peers. While trying to keep his home life together, disliking his dad and trying to help his mom make ends meet. They move to a different town because of all the bullying he has endured over the years. He makes sure the new move is a good one, making sure that he doesn’t live the same school life from his past. When he gets to this new school he puts on an act to be something he’s not so good he ends up turning into someone he once despised. He turns into a bully or ends up on the other side of the rope at this new school. He has to deal with his two different personalities and juggles them between home and school. Reading is important because it opens your mind. Broadening your horizons is very important to have an open mind and be able to learn. Reading teaches you things other people can’t it also helps you find out things for yourself. Reading In a sense gives you independence to go off and do things on your on. Reading will get you far in life especially because mostly everything you do in life involves reading. Reading equals success.

Reading is very important and its something that is for nothing but our own good. It is important to read because we exercise our brains and we learn about different things that people like to write about. Reading has changed my life in many different ways and it has affected me a lot because I used to hate reading and now I really enjoy it. I like reading fantasy and mystery I really enjoy reading the Harry Potter books. The books “How to Salsa in a Sari” and “The Truth About Forever”. The Harry Potter books are really interesting and they are full of adventures and many experiences that the Hogwarts students go through as they become better wizards. Harry Potter is a wizard who is different than others because he is the only wizard who survived an attack from Lord Voldemort because even Harry’s parents died in that attack. With the help of many wizards Harry starts going to school at Hogwarts. I feel like reading plays an important part of my life. Teachers and parents encourage us the students to read because that way we will have different ways of looking at life and seeing the glass half filled. Without reading we all wouldn’t be able to understand movies, TV shows, etc.

My three favorite books are Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Hatchet, and IT.
Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets is a book about a young wizard who trys to defeat the strongest evil wizard who ever lived. Lord Voldemort killed Harry's parents whne he was a baby and tried to kill him. Somehow Harry defeated Voldemort and now he is a hero to the entire magical world. But, Voldemort is still alive and he is turning students at Hogwarts School to stone. Now Harry is suspected of harming his fellow students! Now he has to find who is really behind the attacks, while trying to prove his innocence.
It is important to read, because it builds vocabulary and learning skills. I learned to read when I was three, and I have been reading voraciously ever since. I always need to carry a book with me, even if I might not get the chance to read it.

My favorite three books are It Chicks by Tia Williams, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, and I am the Messenger by Markus Zusak. It Chicks is a really good book that could guide you through real life experiences. This book has a different look on how teenage life is for some people. If you are looking for a book then it is It Chicks because it is that has a lot of mature content. This book is a urban fiction which a lot of people love to read so if you like them type of books I suggest you to pick up It Chicks. It is important to read so you have an incredible vocabulary and so you apply yourself as much as possible. It is also important to read so you get more knowledge and learn more about the things that you don’t know. Reading in general has changed my life a lot because at first I hated to read and now I love it. Reading has made me a lot more intelligent and it has influenced my life a lot with the context that it has. Reading has made me see things from a different point of view it has made me appreciate knowledge and a lot more things.

My favorite books would have to be The Battle of Jericho, Black, and Fly Girl. The book that I will choose to talk about will be The Battle of Jericho. The Battle of Jericho is about a boy that wanted to be in a futurity. He was not very popular at the beginning of the book, but once he gets in the futurity all the changes. The girl that he always liked is talking to him and they even go out with each other. The done fall to the story is that his cousin is in the same futurity and at the end of the book he dies. Jericho does not know what to do without his cousin and the family is devastated. I think that it is important to read because it can help expand your vocabulary and you may learn something from what you read. The way that reading has changed my life is that I did not like to read at first, but now I do. It has changed my life because I expand my reading and I try to read things that I usually would not pick to read. It also helps me with my vocabulary. Reading has changed my life because there are a lot of things that I can do and want to do, but sometimes I would rather read to keep myself busy.

I really don’t like to read but I do have favorite books. Three of my favorite books are the glass castle, By: Jeannette Walls, A hustler’s wife By: Nikki Turner, and the autobiography of Malcolm X, By: Malcolm X. Out of all them books I really connected with The glass castle. Jeannette Walls grew up with parents whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Rose Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads, moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination, teaching those physics, geology, and above all, how to embrace life fearlessly Later, when the money ran out, or the romance of the wandering life faded, the Walls retreated to the dismal West Virginia mining town -- and the family -- Rex Walls had done everything he could to escape. To me reading is so important because every time you read u learn something new, it teaches you something every day so meaning if you don’t read something is the matter because reading is so fun, plus it gives you something to do keeps you out of trouble and free from stress

Well, throughout my life, I have read many books by many artists. While some where good and I enjoyed very well, others were not good and to me, it was a terrible read. Three of the books I enjoyed reading the most, I would have to say are; Holes by Louis Sachar, True To the Game by Teri Woods, and Make it Happen by Kevin Liles. Out of these three novels, I would have to say that True To the Game by Teri Woods was my best read. The genre of this book is urban fiction. This book is about a girl name Gena trying to find some one to love her. In the beginning, Gena and her friend goes to New York City to a party, and they see some guys and they decide to talk to them. Gena hooks up with the driver, who will later become her fiancĂ©e. The guy she met, his name is Quadir, and Quadir is the biggest drug dealer in Philly, and it shows. Quadir show Gena the finer things in life, he buys her clothes, shoes, cars and he buys her a house out the hood. This is not a very important book to read, it didn’t change my life when I read it.

Well three of my favorite novels would have to be Sheisty , Ghetto Princess, and True to the Game. All of the sequels to those novels are good too. I like all of those novels because they can relate to my life and also to society today. It also keeps me very interested and I never get bored reading them I mean sometimes I can even read a book in one barely two days because I can never put them down. If I had to recommend one of those three novels I would probably recommend Ghetto Princess only because it is very interesting it keeps you attentive and it tells a story about love and being independent and not depending on any one but yourself not even your own family. I also think that the way it is written that it is meant for children or teenagers my age not so much children but for the ages of I’d say about 14-19 only because if your to young it will put bad mind settings of how life’s supposed to be and how it really is. I think reading makes you a lot smarter and it expands your imaginary with other things than what your used to, and it teaches you a lot like new words and cultures and things like that.

My three favorite books are
1) The Earth, My butt and the other big Round Things.
2) The Perfect Date
3) It’s Not About the Bike

The one that I love the most is the perfect date. It talks about a young man who is in school and has serious relationship problems. He dates too many girls at the same time. One day around winter time Joe wanted to go ski and his girlfriend Juliet was not up to that. He convinced her to do it. Any way, the girl had a terrible accident and died. While she was dead, some lady stole her beautiful body. While Joe moved on, some ghost came around him all the time asking him to stay away from his new girlfriend Marie. He did not listen. Marie and Joe went on a dates and every time she always pull some scary trick on him. Like pouring hot coffee in his hand, driving to fast in the snow and crashing leaving Joe all alone. She always gave Joe the wrong home address. After that, Marie visited Joe from the hospital. The book is hard to explain but you should definitely read this because it has too much suspense. The message that I receive from this is hold on to what you have. Always appreciate what you have because you don’t know what can take place for the next minute of your life. Reading has changed my life because gives me some lessons for life. It makes my English Better.

My three favorite books would be The Coldest Winter Ever, Ghetto Princess, and Nervous. Ghetto Princess is an urban novel about a young woman who is graduating High School and going to college. She lives with her mother and step-father whom is a drug dealer in New York. Her mother and step-father are killed by hit men and is forced to move with her birth father. Kanika goes through many changes while living with her father but continues to work hard for what she wants in life. I think many teenager should read her story because it could help inspire young adults to want to succeed in life and in everything they do. I think by reading this it could also help teenagers realize that the world is very cold and you have to be strong to survive what it throws your way even if your unprepared. I think reading is important because it helps in all subjects in school. If you cant read you cant make it in the world because anybody could trick you and you wont know it because you didn’t think it mattered if you could read good and understand what you were reading. It also helps strengthen your vocabulary.

I have read many books throughout my life. Some were the best thing I could have ever done. While some of them I wondered to myself, “Why in the world did I want to read this?” One of my favorite books I read was called “Letters to a Young Brother,” by Hill Harper. It was his first book he ever made and it was biographical and inspirational. If I hadn’t read this book, I wouldn’t have gotten to be the teenager I am now. Another of my favorite books was called “The Watsons Go to Birmingham- 1963,” by Christopher Paul Curtis. I have it at my house now, and sometimes I want to read it. It was one of those books where you can just imagine that you are seeing everything that the characters are seeing as if you yourself were in the book. I would definitely read another book that Christopher Paul Curtis would write. My favorite number one book would have to be “The Autobiography of Malcolm X.” I am still reading this at my house. It was recommended at a good read, and I’m glad that it was. Malcolm was and still is one of my favorite role models. He was trying to achieve a great goal for humanity, but he is my role model because he came from nothing and became one of the most important people to ever live. Reading isn’t important, but it will greatly help you later on in life.

My three favorite books are, Lord of the Flies, the last book in the Chronicles of Narnia called The Last Battle, and the third book in the Twilight series, Eclipse.

Lord of the Flies is a book about a group of English boys, all varying in ages that get stuck on a tropical island. It follows them as they try to set up their own community. There are groups, and alliances formed. And there are revolts and there are even deaths. I would really recommend this book to someone my age because it’s a classic, and it’s a book that I think everyone should read. It’s a book that says a lot about society, and how wild we truly become when we are forced to go back to our natural ways. These boys were on a trip from their prep school, and in a matter of days they lost all they learned about manners and being proper and reverted to being nothing but savages. The struggle in the book I think is something that everyone can learn from. And Lord of the Flies is always constantly being referenced to. So if you don’t read it you are certainly missing something

My three favorite books of all time are: the Bible, Copper Sun, and Last Summer with Maizon. These three books are my favorite books for various reasons. Not only did I connect with them on an emotional level but also because they’ve helped me with everyday life. In some way or another each one of these books made me appreciate what I have in life and not take anything for granted. Although Last Summer with Maizon is no longer on my reading level I still cherish this book and keep it close. It’s about two girls who grew up together in Brooklyn, New York; but are very different at heart. Maizon is more of the outgoing type, who is into all the new fashions and takes a lot in life for granted; while Margaret is more of the conservative type who appreciates all she has. Maizon lives with her grandmother alone, down the block from Margaret who shares her home with her mother, father, and brother. Although Margaret seems to have the perfect life, she’s far from it. Her father is sick and slowly dying, while her mother has to constantly leave home to work two jobs to pay for his expensive medical bills; which leaves her at home all of the time to care for her little brother. And while all of this is going on, her best friend since birth is moving to all the way to Connecticut to go to a better school. As Margaret believes her life is ending, it all takes a hard hit at once. Shortly after her father’s death, her best friend leaves. I connected with this book on many different levels and it makes me appreciate everything that I have. It is very important to read because you’re only benefitting yourself and hopefully others around you. It has changed my life in many ways because I see it from all different prospective and can help others.

I really don’t have a favorite book. But if a had to pick a book. It would be make it happen. This book told a good story, and it was interesting to me. Make it happen is great for the high school age group. It shows a direction to anybody who would want to succeed in a career. The steps that he tell you, are steps that he took to get where he is now. There are some people that he talks about, which have been through a lot to get to the position that they are in. Also he talks on how certain celebrities act where he was with them.
This book really didn’t change my life. But it helped me in thinking about what I really want to do when I grow up. And it helped me in how to get to the position that I want to be in. It changed the view that I had on picking a career. But this book is and isn’t important to read. The important things would the rules that he tells about and the experience that he had while doing them. Then it isn’t important because it is just not interesting to some people. I know that it really didn’t stand out to me, but I got into it and I ended up liking it.

My favorite three books are First Truth, Lost Truth, and Dragon Bones. If I could choose one book for you to read, I would choose for you to read First Truth. It is a fairly simple read, but is very interesting and really stimulates the reader. It is a fantasy novel, but also ahs love and action in it. The characters go really deep, and you can really relate to them. Also, Dawn Cook uses vivid detail, so you can actually picture each scene happening in your mind. This is the first book in the Truth series. There are a total of four books, and all are terrific. But I would really recommend this one, (The first one) because it really affects all the other books and is probably the best of the four. It is actually the shortest as well. It is about Alissa’s and Strell’s journey to the Hold before the snow fills the mountain pass in. It is very important to read. It greatly increases your vocabulary, and helps us maintain our imagination, even as we grow up. Reading hasn’t really changed my life, but it has affected my life. It has really extended my vocabulary, and helped me be more creative at certain times.

My three favorites books are Eclipse, number the stars, and the color of water. I think I love them because they all are stories being told through the eyes of either a child or teenager and I feel like I can relate to them more. I will talk about the color of water because you already slammed the twilight series *sticks tongue out* and not many people read or even heard of it. It is about the writer and his mother and the relationship they have and the racism in the time period. The book shifts views from the mother to the child and tells there life and how they joined into together. The interesting thing about the book is that the mother is mixed making it even more difficult for her and her children. People treat them harshly and act as though she is insane. The other thing is that there are lots of other siblings all whom grew up and are VERY successful. Many of the children however grew up following the black panthers and taking their views to whole new levels. The title refers to God when the child asked his mother what color God was and she said God was the color of water. I love reading because it can take you anywhere with no limits at all. Reading is something I’ve always encouraged in my family and social life.

I have many favorite books. My three favorite are Street Life by Jihad. It’s a story a man surviving on the streets trying to overcome obstacles to be successful in life. Another one of my favorite books is Thug Life. It is a story a very powerful drug dealers. The one boss had gotten locked up. The boss didn't want to be in the business anymore, so he decided to leave the game. But his friend felt like his punking out. His friend turned out to try and kill him, since that was one of the rules of the game. The only way out is in a box. My third favorite book is the coldest winter ever. It is a story a girl that will do anything to make get money. She lies steals, sleeps with men. The book I would choose to recommend to someone is street life. This book main focus is to keep people out of jail. It is important to read because it gives you knowledge. It can keep your mind on positive things depending on what you’re reading. Reading has changed my life because every book I read teaches me a lesson. It is so important to read to expand your vocabulary.

Some of my favorite books are deep, shiesty and still shiesty but T.N baker. Shiesty was one of the good books I read. This book makes you keep reading and makes you want to read the second book. Shiesty is about a group of friends that do nothing but act shiesty to one another for no reason. Just because they are losing the whole meaning of the word friendship and honesty. How friends will pay more attention to a relationship with a guy than a relationship with there so called best friend. I would recommend this book to many girls to show them what not to become a bad friend or end up with any friends. I would also recommend people to read this book who are drug dealers. To see what it will do to your family. It will make you but it will also break you and make you feel lower than u ever felt.

My three books are Black Beauty, the Hardy Boys: Danger on Vampire Trail, and my most recent favorite book is Scorpions. The book I pick to summarize is Scorpions. The book is about a boy name Jamal Hicks and lately every body is beginning to mess around with him. He does not really like it too much. His teachers mess with him, the kids at his school and even his dad has been messing with him. And now that Jamal’s brother is in prison, Mack has a crazy idea. He wants Jamal to take control of the Scorpions and run crack cocaine. All that gang business-Jamal does not have any use for it. Unless like some say, it’s the only way to cop the bread for Randy’s. In my opinion reading is very important because if you don’t read, you can not really extend your knowledge. Reading can actually teach you things sometimes. Not every book may teach you but it still may be interesting for you to read. Reading for the most part changed my life. I say that because like I said before I basically can teach you things. By reading a book I may know something that most adults may not know. So in my opinion it makes puts me a head of “the game”.

In 200 words or more: List 3 of your favorite books. Choose one of those books and give a brief summary geared to promoting the book to someone of your age. Explain why it is important to read and or How reading has changed your life. My three favorite books are Queen by Cynthia white, Keisha by Darrell King, and Going broke by Trista Russell. If I had to tell about one book it would be Going Broke by Trista Russell. The plot of the story is basically how a woman gets fed up and she is depending on a man to keep her moving. In the story the young woman is dependent on her boyfriend for everything. When Sarai and her criminal boyfriend breakup the tables turn now because she is dependent on her own self. Sarai goes from being a high class woman to being a female escort. Sarai then meets the man of her dreams and his name is Tremel. Tremel and Sarai become very close more than they thought they ever would only until Tremel starts too see and hear things about her anonymous job. Then the drama enters Tremel’s family because as one of her escort jobs Sarai slept with Tremel's uncle. Now Sarai is trying to figure out a way so that Tremel does not find out. But when pictures come to the surface all he** brakes through and things hit the ceiling. The world that Tremel and Sarai had for the time being seems to be falling apart slowly but surely. Tremel and Sarai are in the worst of the worst situation in there relationship! Wondering what is going to happen now just read the book and see because curiosity kills the cat…?
I think that reading is a wonderful thing. Reading has changed my life because it is educating me in every way even if I not reading about something that is about the world or any thing like that.

My three favorite books are Romiette and Julio, Copper Sun, and my current book Just Say No! They are my top three favorite books that I have read so far. Romiette and Julio is my favorite book. It is about these two teenagers Romiette and Julio. Romiette is a African-American who believes in the whole horoscope true love thing, and grew up in a nice wealthy family. Julio is a Puerto Rican, who just moved from Texas to Detroit. Where they both go to the same high school, but don’t notice each other until they meet in the cafeteria. They both go to her house to have a puppy. But this gang at there school think Julio is apart of the gang back at his hometown. They lived together in harmony..

If you read it will make you a better and faster reader. Sometimes if you read you can learn a lot of things, because I know I did. In school you have to read to have an education. I know I didn’t like to read, but I had to. Now I read about three to four books, since August. And I like to read.

My top three books that I can remember are 1) The House on mango street, 2) The true true behind the tree little pigs, 3) The private patient. And that is about it. The House on Mango Street was just a story about like the author life before. All the money cause of her novels and writing. This story is in a way cool and scare but at the same time kind of sad cause of the events in the novel and story. Also, the story is about the main character dream of having her own house for her self and her family. This story is just good and crazy in the same time. Also, in my opinion reading is important because without it people will just don’t know. How cool it’s to read a book and see like a movie that you’re looking at without the images only by your imagination. In my opinion reading is like help your self and brain learn to became a better reader and better person in school. Also, it’s like giving your self help when you read a book you learn something new about life. In my opinion that is like very important. Reading is like power in my opinion.

Three of my most favorite books I’ve read are; Twilight series, Naruto manga, and most favorite of all is Pure that book there is a real cool. Twilight is a very out standing book. I would recommend it to all teenagers it relates to all the hardships of love in high school. I would say it is good for teenager because it is written to relate to us teenagers. No, I would not change a thing about the book; I think the book was well written. Twilight met all my expectations. It made me feel as if I was in the story its self. It grabs your attention makes you want to read more. The story entails the story of a mortal and a vampire falling in love. I think it is important to read because it in sharpens the mind. It makes you able to understand things more with knowing your reading for fun. I feel as if I am in a whole new world when I read. It makes me forget all of the bad things. It’s the only way I escape from the real world. I feel like I can do any thing when I read a lot. It feels good when you are able to go up to some one and tell them the wonderful world you have concord. I could be a queen or king or even a ninja. That is how it works for me. I see a world where there no troubles in the world. Sad thing is that there are not always happy endings. When I see some one with the passion to read I think it is real cool that they share the same passion. It’s cool when you’re able to tell some one about what you read. I can pick up any book and tell you all about with no trouble.

I love to read but however I do not have a favorite book. One book that ii do like a great deal is the “How to Be Popular” by Meg Cabot. “How to Be Popular is about a girl in high school who is determined to change her reputation from being a loser to one of the people looked at as popular. She finds a book on how to be popular and follows all the rules but she finds is losing her friends and doing the wrong thing worth being popular. In the end she does the right thing and learns a life long lesson. It is a great book for high school students because it shows them that being popular isn’t all what they think and it’s not important to gain. It is very important to read because you expand your knowledge with reading. You come across words you never knew and you learn different things from reading books. You also expand your imagination and look at the world from a different perspective. Reading is very important to me and I enjoy reading and would say I’m very good at it myself. The career of being an author is something I would be interested in.

My favorite books were the gun to kill a mockingbird and green eggs and ham. The gun was the best one I like that one because it’s about a boy that use to bully everybody. He use to take everybody’s money, everybody was scared of him he use to walk down the hall without having anyone laughing at him because he was ugly or something. He had everybody hurt in his hand he was the man of the school. One day this new guy came in took his fame right in the lunch room in front of everybody. The guy put him in the hospital because he broke his wrist. The bully got in trouble for picking the fight he had one more time to do something bad and he knew he would get in trouble by his dad and his dad does not play. The bully life was going down the drain he did not have an older brother to look up to because he was in jail. I think this book is good for people to read because it can teach you not to make crazy choices in life. The book can teach a lot to kids and adults. I really like this book.

One out of my favorite three books is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The other two are Bitter Virgin manga and Naruto manga. My favorite out of theses three is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This book is the 7th book of the series. I actually really enjoy the series as well. This book is about a boy named Harry who has to finish off his enemy before his enemy finishes him off. With his friends Ron and Hermione at his side nothing can go wrong. They decided not to go back to school this year even though it’s they’re last year at Hogwarts. If you haven’t heard of this book already then I wouldn’t expect you to know that most of the fights and magic happens in the magical world and that Harry, Ron, and Hermione are wizards along with other kids and adults that have wizard abilities. Then that is telling you that Hogwarts is a school of witchcraft and wizardry. Harry along with Hermione and Ron are on this mission to stop the evil Lord Voldemort from taking control of the magical and non-magical world. One there way to stopping him, they come across some problems. Which involves meeting new people and trying to save each others lives. They’re mission is long and hard. They are alone in the world trying to stop Voldemort while the world is giving up and giving down to Voldemort. So really it’s basically about three 17 year olds trying to save the human world and magical community. I would recommend everyone read this book. To me there is no age limit to this book that is unless you are 5 and can’t read. I love to read and to me it is important to read. I say this because reading gets you more places in life. Sometimes reading get you away from reality and into make believe land and sometimes we need to get out of reality. My reading really hasn’t changed in life. It just got better every time I read something new. My favorite kinds of books that I will always love to read are books like the Harry Potter series and urban fiction. They are really interesting to me. They also attract my attention.

My Three favorite books are Cooper Sun, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pant, and After Tupac and D Foster. The book I choose is After Tupac and D Foster. I would recommend you to read this because this novel is outrageous. From beginning to the end of the book grabs your attention to keep on reading. Well Tupac was killed on September 13, 1996, but before Tupac died there was D Foster. In a neighborhood in Queens, our narrator and her best friend Neeka meet D, a girl who is eleven-years-old like them and has seen a lot of homes in her day. The three bonds almost immediately, their shared love of Tupac and the future as it comes to them. D Foster just wants to stay in one home from here on in, but when her real mom gets her act together and wants her back, the closeness of the girls is sorely tested. When D Foster walks into Neeka and her best friend’s lives, their world opens up. Reading is important because you need the knowledge to achieve your goals in life without it you would be lost in life. Reading has changed my life because it helps me understand what I didn’t know before and help me speak proper. This is a must read novel.

I have a lot of favorite books to talk about. The three books that are my favorite are Out of the Dust, Letters from Rifka, and Sholda Seen it Comin’. I would recommend this novel to any teenage girl because I believe you can learn many things form Zseset's mistakes. Even though this books talk a lot about sex and drug use. I learned a lot of new things from this book as well. I believe this book was set up very good from its characters to its conflicts. I didn’t think the book was going to be this good and no "I Shoulda Seen it comin' it is really important to read it will teach you a lot in life and actually make you go father in life. In the beginning she realizes how dumb she was to get married at a young age. She ends up divorcing him and tries to find a new and better life in the fast lane. So she moves from Norfolk to Richmond. In Richmond she sees a lot of sexy men with awhile lot of money and she is sure to make one of them hers and quick. She ends up chasing the drama from one man to another and gets no where. I believe the book should have seen it comin was very inspirational on teens my age. I like a lot of different books. My three favorite books are Sheisty 2, Around the Way Girls, and The Coldest Winter Ever. The book that I would pick is probably Sheisty. This book is a really good book for teenagers my age. I would definitely recommend it to my friends, boys, and girls. It is a bout in this novel, three best friends go through a lot of things and they always argue. But then on the other hand, they are always there for each other no matter what and that’s how it should be. Sometimes they can be sheisty to one another and they won’t talk for a while. The flat characters in the book and they are also portrayed as sheisty because they do some bad things to the girls to try and harm their relationships because they are jealous. None of their boyfriends get along. They rob and try to kill one another. Keshia is the only one that is pregnant that everyone knows of. But Epiphany gets pregnant by C-God and he didn’t know yet because he and Epiphany stopped talking. So then C-God got mad because Epiphany found another boyfriend so C-God and his friend run up into Epiphany’s house and killed her boyfriend. In the process, Epiphany tries to kill C-God but then his friend comes in and shoots her in the chest. Before Epiphany becomes unconscious, she tells C-God that she was pregnant. Now he feels bad and calls 911 for an ambulance and is now on the run. She lost the baby but she survived. Shana’s boyfriend gets out of jail and he moves back in with her by the end. That’s most of the story. It is important to read because these girls and boys go through some of the things that they do. It will better prepare you and let you know what you might have ahead of yourself.

Period 6,
I have f a lot of books but my favorite three books are Promises to Keep, Hoops, and An Dream that Mike Made. The book that I am going to tell you about is the book called An Dream That Mike Made. This story is about the basketball star Michael Jordan who grew up in New York with nothing. His parents had three kids with a job where they did not make a lot of money. They did not have a lot of clothes, so they were picked on by fortunate kids because they wore everything you they wanted. Mike did not start playing basketball until high school. He tried out his freshman year and did not make the JV squad. Michael Jordan made the team his last three years and led his school to two state championships. He went to University of North Carolina to play basketball where he won them a National Championship his sophomore year. He was drafted third overall of the first round of the 1984 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. He played fifth teen years in the NBA and accomplished six championship rings. He retired with the Washington Wizards and is now the manager of the Charlotte Bobcats. It is important to read because you learn more words and it increases your knowledge. It has changed my life because if I didn’t read I wouldn’t know about the diseases in the world or the things that is good and bad for you.

Three of my all time favorite books would have to be G-spot, Candy Licker, and Bad Girlz. Well we were supposed to give a summary like we were talking to one of our friends so here it goes. Girl you should read this book called G-spot it is so crazy. This girl met this man and at first he was all nice like all men are until you do something and they show you their real side. Anyways he gave her the good life for a while until he brought her to his club that he owned and he made her work and would not let her see any of her family. Girl this could have not been me I would straight left his a**. Her brother had recently been in some trouble she had asked him if he could stay there and he by surprise said that he could. I knew that this was probably some kind of set up probably to turn her whole family against her. To make a long story short she started to like his secretary and in some way he started to notice it. One day while in the club she and her boyfriends’ secretary were kissing in the office right next to her boyfriends. He soon found out what was going on and killed her brother right in front of her. Someone set fire to his club and he was caught in the fire and died. I think that it is very important to read so that you can have a wide variety of what people are thinking.

I don’t like to read so I really would only like books about my favorite things. I especially liked halo fall of reach. The book is about the Spartan II’s and how master chief became who he is. He was kidnapped by the U.N.S.C when he was 6 and trained with 100 other kids around the universe that were human. They were bio-augmented to become super soldiers. They fight the alien race called the Covenant. It is important to read because it helps with your spelling and literacy. Reading is an important part of living because that is how you can get information and how you can send it. If you don’t know how to read than you will be left out of a lot of things. You won’t be able to read a title or news paper. You won’t be able to read important signs ether. If you didn’t know how to read than the world would be horrible for you because you would be outcast

Three of my favorite books are The Coldest Winter Ever, Deep, and all the Judy Blume Books. Even though all of them were extremely good, I think my favorite was The Coldest Winter Ever. It was a very good book. I would recommend it to all ages. This book was about a girl named Winter. She went through many ups and downs. I would recommend this book because it was very deep and interesting. It taught many girls about how to handle themselves. It shows how a woman should really be treated. I thought that this book was a very good read for me to read going in to high school. My mom gave it to me when I was in the sixth grade because she felt it taught me how to handle boys. Winter showed a very negative attitude on life. I like this book very much because it held me my attention fully. I related it to my life. It made me relate it to people I know in my life.

My favorite books are: Holes, We Beat the Street, and the Ben Carson biography. I think I would have to say that Holes was my favorite out of all them. I read the book once or twice, listened to the book on tape two or three times, and watched the movie a couple of times. Holes started off with Stanley Yelnats. He was walking home one day and a pair sneakers fell out the air and hit him in the head. He analyzed them and began to run home there were police near by and they found it suspicious that he was running. They stopped him and assumed that he stole the sneakers. Stanley went to court and they found him guilty for stealing the sneakers even though he didn’t steal and they sent him to a discipline camp for teenagers. The camp disciplined the kids there by making them dig holes all day no matter the weather and it had to be a certain height and diameter. He made some friends while he was there and he met a kid named Zero who was very quiet and kept to himself. Stanley started to teach Zero how to read and write. One day while they were working Zero became fed up with digging so he stole the water truck and tried to drive away but ran into one of the holes. He got out and ran away. They didn’t see him for a couple of days and Stanley became worried and ran too to find him. They met up and climbed up the mountain that would free Stanley from his family’s curse of bad luck. They came back to the camp and Stanley’s agent found him and found all the dirt that the camp had been hiding. They shut the camp down, Stanley found a treasure of money, and Zero’s recorded was cleared, he found his mom, and he and Stanley ended up living together.

I think this book is very good book and can teach all students life lessons and what to expect from certain situations. The book is based on two people Quadir and Gena. They are a couple other people who add to their life and help their life crush. Quadir was a drug dealer who met Gena on the highway. Quadir took Gena to the Bahamas for their first date, there they found out lots about each other and what each other likes and doesn’t like. When they went back to New York their real life began together. They were truly in love and would have died for the other and that eventually happened. One day Quadir and Gena went to a club to enjoy the night and someone started shooting towards Quadir and Gena and Quadir saved Gena from a bullet but it ended up piercing him in his chest. This book has helped me to look past peoples flaws because you never know what may come from them. The book has also taught me to stay away from bad company and what they surround themselves in.

Three of my favorite books are: It Chicks by Tia Williams, The Drama High Series by L. Divine, and Played by Dana Davidson. My favorite of the three would have to be It Chicks. The book is set in New York present time and is based on a school for the performing arts. Skye, Tangie, and C.J., used to be best friends back in middle school but when Tangie didn’t go to the same high school for their freshmen year everything changed for them. Tangie and C.J. were even closer than she and Skye. C.J. revealed to Tangie that he loved her but she felt like he was only saying that because she was his last choice and they fell out of touch. The book is full of twist and turns and was one that I couldn’t put down. I think it is very important to read at least 15 minutes a day because when I was younger my teacher Mrs. Schaufert told me that people who read often have a larger vocabulary. It’s also important because reading can help you be more aware of the environment around you.

Three books that are pretty good to me are some weird books called Make Lemonade, The Gun, and To Kill a Mocking Bird. The book that I will tell to someone my age is called Make Lemonade. It is a book about a teenage girl looking for a job and finds a babysitting job for an older teenage girl that is only 17 years old with two kids that are not so clean. The 17 year old lady is not so clean neither, her house is very dirty and her kids are kind of dirty. I say this book could change some people lives and more. It also may make people not care about there selves. I would tell this book to my younger cousin or my cousin at my age because it may help them out. This book could change some people lives as I said. It could make people think twice before they make a mistake about something bad or something they should not be doing. I told my one cousin best friend about the book and she read the book and it change her. She always think back to the book when she is about to do a bad think. It stops her from doing a mistake that would have messed up her life. Reading is also important to me because it could help me if I read something new and it could of help me out.

Three books that I really like are-Dutch by Teri Woods, Queens Reign Supreme: Fat Cat, 50 Cent, and the Rise of the Hip-Hop Hustler by Ethan Brown, and Unbelievable: the Life, Death, and Afterlife of the Notorious B.I.G. I would have to say that my favorite book out of the three is Unbelievable. Unbelievable is basically a biography of Biggie’s life. It tells about his early life before he was a rapper as well as his life as a rapper. The book also tells about the investigation of Biggie’s murder. This book gives a lot of information about Biggie that most people my age wouldn’t know. For example, most people don’t know that Biggie went to a Catholic school. This is why it’s important to read. You learn information that you wouldn’t learn in school. There are some things that you have to learn on your own. Many of the smartest people in the world didn’t get smart by going to school. It certainly helped but that is not all that they did. They read books all day, every day. They gained knowledge on their own. In conclusion, reading books helps you become smarter. It is also a good way to have a bigger vocabulary.

My three favorite books are “Fast Life” by Cassandra Carter, “The Clique” by Lisi Harrison, and all the Limited Too books. In the book “Fast Life” it talks about a girl who is finding herself and learning responsibility for her actions and the reality of life. She is so used to having a fast paced life that when it did a whole turn around she didn’t know what to do with herself. Also she overcomes obstacles but no one said that it would be an easy thing to do. Life was lived in the fast lane since her dad was the biggest drug dealer in Chicago and everyone envied him that she has been a diva since diapers. Then after his death she was the queen bee in school because she had the hottest boyfriend and the biggest come up since her dad. This little girl learns what it means to be a woman and make it on her own. This is a great book to read because it really does give you a does of reality. Also it’s a good way to look at others peoples perspective. In changed my life because some of the things she went through, I am to so it’s a helpful thing to read about someone’s own problems and relate them to your own.

3 of my most favorite books have to be Twilight, Hard Love, and New Moon.

You've probably heard Twilight and New Moon one hundred and one times, so I will summarize the book, Hard Love.

Hard Love is about a teenage boy, roughly the age of 17, who meets a girl that is a lesbian. The boy hangs out with this girl and slowly but surely, falls in love with her. The girl doesn't love him back because she isn't interested in men, and the boy goes through a hard love, and a heavy rejection. I think anyone that doesn't get offended easily could read this book. This book is mostly directed to audiences between the ages of 15-18, even though I read it at the age of 13. Reading is so important to my life because I honestly enjoy reading for pleasure. You can learn from reading also. Reading books gets rid of my boredom and I could seriously sit there all day and read a freaking book. I love reading. Reading books and text books for things such as school give you the ability to learn so much more. It's great to read and learn new things.

My most favorite book out of this list is Sheisty. It’s about three best friends going to threw life. In the book each of them go threw changes that change their whole life. Epee is the spoiled one her family is mad rich and gives her anything she wants. She is grown and her mother and father are still paying her bills. It is very important to read it helps you expand your vocabulary. Every time you read a book there is at least one word in there that you never saw before. If you look it up and start to use it an everyday sentence it will help you in the long run when you go to an interview they will see how broad your vocabulary will be. Also it also helps your imagination it helps you foreshadow and use visualization.

My three favorite books are Players, First Part Last, and Hoopsters. If I had to pick a favorite from these I would be First Part Last by Angela Johnson. The book is about a teenager named Bobby Morris. He hangs around with his friends K-Boy and J. L. The walk around their hood, go to the courts to play ball, or go to the pizza place. Bobby’s life gets messed up when he gets his girl pregnant. Bobby’s girlfriends name is Nia. She is scared about being pregnant and the things that happen to her body. Bobby has to change his whole life around when his daughter Feather is born. He has to figure out how to go to school, hangout, and work. His parent are there for him, but they will not let him off the hook for his responsibilities.
I picked up this book to read because the cover looked interesting. After I read it, I was thinking about how hard it would be for teenagers who have this problem. The book let me know some things to think about so I would not make the kinds of mistake Bobby and Nia make by having a baby too early in life. This would be a good book for all teenagers to read so they understand the problems teen pregnancy can bring. The story is not really a sad one but more of a teaching story.

My three favorite books are the Bible, the Ga’Hoole series, and the warrior series. Though all of these choices are in my top three my absolute favorite is the Bible. The Bible is my favorite for many reasons. Firstly it is the book upon which my entire religion bases its doctrine. Secondly it is a book that is a composite of many smaller books that are all linked by a common theme. And last but not least I like it for its wonderfully crafted stories. In the Bible you are taken from the Dawn of mankind to its somewhat tragic dĂ©nouement. When the first man falls to sin in the beginning the remainder of the book is dedicated to getting mankind back to its original sinless state. Later in the book Jesus is introduced, and is brought through an epic and incredibly detailed saga which brings you from conception to untimely death in the life of this great man of God. Through the chapters and books this book shows us other great men of God that did wonderful exploits in the name of this man. Though sometimes disputed in its accuracy it is undeniable that this Book has changed the course of history forever. Still holding the best-seller position this is my favorite book.
